About San Diego House Rabbit Society

SDHRS is a volunteer-driven, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a local rabbit shelter and supply store. Our mission is to rescue and adopt abandoned domestic rabbits to loving homes. We also provide urgent medical care and spays/neuters for rabbits in our shelter along with community education classes. Last year through our fundraising and volunteer work, we provided medical care to 200+ rabbits, health exams to 500+ rabbits and adopted out 100 rabbits. Event description

Event Facts

For over 30 years, Bunnyfest has been the largest annual fundraiser for the San Diego House Rabbit Society (SDHRS).  This event is an open-air festival. Activities include a silent auction, art social, mini educational lectures, games, children’s crafts and 30+ vendors selling bunny-themed merchandise & services.

Fundraising Goal

The San Diego House Rabbit Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Our fundraising goal for Bunnyfest is $40,000 to help defray our medical bills. Each year, SDHRS rescues hundreds of rabbits, many in need of medical care. It takes a village to keep San Diego House Rabbit Society going and the operational cost per year to care for the rabbits can exceed $630, 000 per year and all proceeds from Bunnyfest help to defray those costs. Last year through our fundraising and volunteer work, we provided medical care to over 700 rabbits in addition to spays, neuters and vaccinations. Since 2020, we’ve also protected over 1000 rabbits from RHDV through our lower-cost vaccine clinics. All proceeds from Bunnyfest sponsors, vendor fees and attendees go towards our medical expenses, which can exceed $95,000 per year.
